Privacy Policy

The short version

My List has no server of its own. There is no account to create, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party code in the app. Your lists are stored on your iPhone and, if you are signed in to iCloud, in your own private iCloud storage. The developer cannot read them.

What the app stores

My List stores only what you put into it:

• The names of your lists.
• The text of each item, and whether it is ticked off.
• The order you arranged your items in.
• Any picture you attach to an item.
• The optional colour chosen for each list.
• An optional reminder schedule for a list, including its date, time, repeat setting, and selected weekdays.
• Per-list suggestion history, including item text, how often it was used, and when it was last used or removed.
• Your app theme and appearance setting, kept on the device and mirrored to its widgets and paired Apple Watch.
• Which reminders you silenced, kept only on that particular device.

The app does not collect your name, email address, contacts, location, device identifiers, or usage statistics.

Where it is stored

Your data is written to a database on your device. When you are signed in to iCloud, it also syncs to the private CloudKit database of your Apple Account, in the container iCloud.app.mylist.ios. That storage is operated by Apple and governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. It counts against your iCloud storage, not against any service run by the developer.

If you are not signed in to iCloud, the app works normally and keeps everything on the device only.

To be precise about what this does and does not mean: data in your private CloudKit database is encrypted in transit and at rest, and the developer has no access to it. It is not described here as end-to-end encrypted, because whether CloudKit data is end-to-end encrypted depends on your Apple Account settings, such as Advanced Data Protection.

Shared lists

When you share a list, iOS creates an iCloud share and sends an invitation through the standard share sheet. From that point:

• The people you invite can see that list's name, colour, items, ticked state, order, reminder schedule, reusable item history, and any attached pictures.
• If you granted can edit access, they can also change the list colour and change, add, or remove items.
• If you granted view only access, they can see the list but not change it.
• Apple shows participants the name associated with their Apple Account, as it does for any iCloud share.

Only the lists you explicitly share are visible to anyone else. Your other lists remain private. You can change a participant's access or stop sharing at any time from the share sheet inside the app.

Photos and camera

When you choose an existing picture, Apple's photo picker gives the app only the image you select rather than access to your photo library. When you tap Take Photo, My List asks iOS for camera access and uses the camera only while the camera screen is open. It does not record video or use the camera in the background. You can also paste a picture directly into the item field. Pictures you attach are resized and stored alongside the item they belong to. They are not uploaded anywhere except your own iCloud storage, and to the participants of a list you have shared.

What the app does not do

• No analytics, telemetry, or usage tracking.
• No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
• No third-party SDKs, crash reporters, or trackers.
• No accounts, passwords, or sign-up.
• No selling or sharing of data — there is none to sell.
• No network connections other than Apple's iCloud services on your behalf.

Deleting your data

Deleting a list inside the app removes it and its items from your device and your iCloud storage, and from the devices of anyone you shared it with. Deleting the app removes the local copy; to remove the iCloud copy as well, delete your lists inside the app first, or manage the app's iCloud data from Settings › Apple Account › iCloud on your device.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the effective date at the top of this page is updated. Material changes will also be described in the app's release notes.
